  • As if the SATs arent stressful enough by themselves, I was told by my college softball coaches that I had to raise my score to have any potential to receive more scholarship money from USD. I went to Scott for help and he helped me reach my goal SAT score! He helped me be able to spot the common pitfalls of SAT questions and learn how to overcome them. I learned how to better manage my time while taking the test, too. My first two attempts at the SATs had me rushing or not having enough time to finish the sections completely. After working with Scott, I remember finishing the math section EARLY and was able to actually go back and check my answers! About Me

Scott Lohnes 

I have been tutoring for over eight years specializing in math and SAT/ACT preparation in the San Diego area.  I have received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois, a Master of Business Administration from Webster University, and a Juris Doctorate from Saint Louis University.  Professionally, I have worked in the fields of engineering in the defense industry, intellectual property law, and sales.  I currently also assist people with diabetes in setting up a DIY hybrid insulin delivery system on their phone.  I have been happily married to my wife, Suzanne, for over 30 years and we have two sons, Alex and Sam, and a dog, Macushla.

My tutoring philosophy is not only to help my students through difficult material, but to make sure they have the proper tools and disciplines to succeed.  I help them with good study habits including pre-class preparation and test preparation.  My goal is to get my students to a place where they no longer or infrequently need my assistance.  Students are not all the same, so I modify my approach according to the student.  I truly care about my students and want them to succeed.
